Can someone please tell me WHY potatoes are so darn expensive??? What happened to them being cheap!?!? I don't understand how a 5kg bag of potatoes costs $10.99. It is ridiculous and has caused me to blog about it! ha ha. Looks like there wont be potatoe salad with our BBQ any time soon!

What the heck kind of potatoes are you buying for 10.99? That is really expensive! They are a lot more than they used to be but I haven't seen them for that much down here...maybe you are looking at some fancy pants kind : ) Yep, can't be roasties - best kind of potato to use for roasties is Agria I reckon! : )
It costs that much for washed potatoes. Crazy Auckland prices! I guess we will be stopping into your grocery store when we come down next and get us some cheaper potatoes... but they might not taste as good from Hamilton ha ha ha ha
I've noticed that too Melissa...I think its cos its the new season ones. Unfotunately Jonathan signed me up to make potato salad for his school's Year 10 camp thinking it would be cheap! 10kgs cost me $18 - and that's just for the spuds!!
Can't beat a roast potato but my kids are HUGE jacket potato fans - sometimes Elle will even cook herself up one for an after school snack :-)
